The
RideGuide is the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority's interactive
trip planning service. The RideGuide allows the user to enter starting
and ending locations in order to generate the best possible route utilizing
Washington's MetroRail and MetroBus systems.
Using The RideGuide is as
easy as 1-2-3...

On the Step
1 page, enter your starting point in the "Leave from"
field. You may enter an address, intersection or landmark/tourist
attraction. Click
here for examples.
Then, enter
your final destination in the "Arrive at" field. You may
enter an address, intersection or landmark/tourist attraction. Click
here for examples.
After you have
input this information, click "NEXT" and The RideGuide
will direct you to Step 2
If doesn't
understand the information entered, The RideGuide will direct you
to a page with futher instruction.

On the Step
2 page, enter the date that you plan to travel in the "Date"
field as shown (month/day/year)
If your trip
will begin at a specific time, click the button next to "Leaving
at" and enter the desired departure time
OR
If your arrival time is more important, click the button next to
"Arriving at" and enter the time you wish to reach your
destination.
Using the "Minimize"
buttons, select ONE option.
If it is most important to reach your destination in the shortest
amount of time, click the button to the left of "Time"
OR
If it is most important to avoid extensive walking, click the button
to the left of "Walking"
(NOTE: The maximum RideGuide walk is 1/2 mile)
OR
If it is most important to have the fewest amount of transfers,
click the button to the left of "Transfers"

Step 3 will
list the best possible routes to reach your destination. The instructions
for the best route will be listed at the top. Any good alternatives
will follow.
Reading your results:
At the top of
your results page will find the "From/To" phrase specifying
your departure and arrival locations.
The "ITINERARY"
tables give you step-by-step instructions.
